SCOPE OF WORK:
Hamad International Airport (HIA) serves as Qatar’s gateway to the world and has been recognized as the best-managed airport by SKYTRAX International. In preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2022, HIA undertook an infrastructure expansion to accommodate 53 million passengers.
Xypex Admix C1000 NF was specified by the designer, Meinhardt International (Singapore), as the primary waterproofing solution to protect concrete and ensure high-quality, durable construction. Of particular importance was the Auto People Mover (APM) structure, which ferries passengers between terminals and demands exceptional structural reliability. Xypex Admix C1000 NF was used to enhance the durability and long-term performance of the concrete in the APM structure.
Approximately 50 tons of Xypex Admix C1000 NF were utilized in the project.

SCOPE OF WORK:
The New Hamad Port Project in Qatar is one of the world’s largest ongoing greenfield developments, strategically located south of Doha, covering an area of 26.5 km² with a total investment of USD 7.4 billion.
Xypex was selected by the Engineering Design Consultants, Royal Haskoning DHV and Worley Parsons, to provide durability and protection to exposed concrete areas, including the terminal decks and quay walls. All cracks greater than 0.2 mm were first repaired using Xypex Concentrate and the Patch N Plug Drypac system.
To ensure long-term durability of the terminal decks under extremely harsh marine conditions, a full coating of Xypex Concentrate was applied across all 11 terminal deck areas. Approximately 90 tons of Xypex Concentrate were used to protect the concrete and enhance its service life.

All internal chambers of caisson went through water tightness test and was handed over for operation in harsh marine environment.

The Xypex two-coat system using Xypex Concentrate was applied to waterproof and protect 48,000 m² of one of the largest potable water reservoirs in the Middle East. With a capacity of 65 million gallons per day, the reservoir is currently operational and supplies approximately 45% of Qatar’s potable water.

RAS ABU FONTAS A3 REVERSE OSMOSIS PROJECT – IWPP

SCOPE OF WORK:
Mitsubishi & Toyo Thai Corporation Ltd. (TTCL) were awarded Qatar’s first large-scale Reverse Osmosis Project, valued at USD 502 million. For the project, TTCL and Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation specified Xypex Coating as the primary waterproofing system for the potable water reservoirs, which deliver 164,000 m³/day of potable water to Doha.
Xypex Concentrate was applied as a two-coat system to all internal walls and deck areas of the East and West Potable Water Reservoirs, covering approximately 32,000 m². Additionally, around 24,000 tie holes and joint areas were treated using Xypex Patch N Plug and Xypex Concentrate Drypac Solution. The project was successfully handed over following extensive water tightness testing conducted by Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation.

RAS ABU FONTAS A3 REVERSE OSMOSIS PROJECT – IWPP

ACCIONA AGUA was awarded the EPC contract for the SEADAF structure at the Ras Abu Fontas A3 project in Qatar by Mitsubishi & TTCL. In collaboration with Fichtner Engineering & Consulting, Germany, ACCIONA selected Xypex Crystalline Technology to protect the SEADAF structure against high salinity and seawater-induced chemical attacks.
Xypex Concentrate was applied as a two-coat system on the internal walls, base slabs, upper slabs, and periphery wall surfaces, covering approximately 20,000 m². Defective concrete was first treated using Xypex Concentrate and the Patch N Plug Drypack system before applying the two-coat Xypex Concentrate finish. Each vault successfully passed water tightness testing.

Place Vendome is a prestigious commercial development situated on the edge of Lusail Beach. The project features two basement levels, which are permanently below the seawater level.
Following unsuccessful attempts using injections and conventional mortars, Xypex Concentrate and Xypex Patch’ n Plug were applied to repair the basement walls. The Xypex treatment effectively arrested leaks under high hydrostatic pressure and was specifically chosen to withstand the salinity of seawater and other corrosive conditions, ensuring long-term durability of the structure.
BURJ DOHA - HI RISE OFFICE BUILDING (B+3+G+42)

Xypex Admix C-1000 NF was used to waterproof and protect the foundation raft, retaining walls, floor slab, and water tanks in the tower. Xypex Concentrate was used to coat in–between the pours, construction joints and other wet areas. In 2012 the building received the CTBUH Skyscraper Award for the “Best Tall Building Worldwide” and is an iconic part of Doha’s skyline designed by World Renowned Architect Jean Nauvel.
JAIDAH GROUP CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS - QATAR

Jaidah Square, a three-story underground parking garage in Doha, Qatar, faced significant waterproofing challenges due to a high groundwater table and extreme hydrostatic pressure, which caused the failure of the original membrane system.
Xypex Concentrate and Patch’n Plug were applied to repair and protect the structure, successfully stopping all leaks. The developer praised Xypex for its reliable performance in critical conditions.
The 70,000 m² commercial building was completed on schedule, and in 2011, Jaidah Square was awarded Commercial Project of the Year in the Middle East.

The Barwa Integrated Housing Project was a fast-track project aimed at providing accommodation for the families of staff and workforce involved in the preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2022. The project included 15 underground stormwater tanks, forming a critical part of the township’s floor management system. Timely completion of these tanks was essential to ensure the overall infrastructure was ready for handover.
Xypex Admix C1000 NF was selected over conventional waterproofing systems due to its ease of application and rapid commissioning, which significantly saved critical project time. Nearly 75 tons of Xypex Admix C1000 NF were used to protect the concrete of the base slabs, walls, columns, and the precast beams and hollow core slab covers of the tanks, ensuring long-term waterproofing and structural durability.

QATAR PETROLEUM - MULTI STOREY CAR PARKING, WEST BAY, QATAR

SCOPE OF WORK:
Qatar Petroleum (QP) serves as the apex authority for the governance of Qatar’s petroleum assets. The project involved the construction of a multi-storey car park within the QP District in West Bay, adjacent to Qatar Petroleum’s headquarters. The facility includes four basement levels and is situated very close to the active shoreline. Excavation was carried out using a contiguous secant piling system.
To ensure effective damp-proofing, Xypex Concentrate was applied to the shore walls prior to the installation of the external membrane system. Approximately 2,500 m² of shore wall area were treated with Xypex Concentrate for both damp-proofing and concrete repair purposes.
LUSAIL RESIDENTIAL BUILDING (2B+G+4+PH) L05-10, FOX HILLS, LUSAIL

The Lusail Residential Building comprises a cluster of six identical residential blocks situated on largely reclaimed land, characterized by highly aggressive groundwater conditions. Designed to accommodate a high-profile segment of the population, the project demanded strict adherence to the highest structural safety standards. In addition to conventional membrane-based waterproofing, Xypex Admix C1000 NF was incorporated into the raft, two basement slabs, retaining walls up to ground level, as well as water tanks and lift pits.
An approximate quantity of 50,000 kg of Xypex Admix C1000 NF was used to ensure long-term protection of the substructure.
ABDULGHANI COMMERCIAL TOWERS WEST BAY

SCOPE OF WORK:
The Abdulla Abdulghani Commercial Towers is a prominent landmark in the West Bay area of Qatar. The building comprises of 2-basements being used as car parking, mechanical rooms, water tanks, and lift pits.
West Bay as an area is in close proximity to the sea and has a high groundwater level. The initial waterproofing of this building was done with the conventional system and were
experiencing leakages.
Xypex Concentrate and Patch n Plug were chosen for the repairs of the cracks in the retaining walls, lift pits due to Xypex’s resistance to high hydrostatic conditions. The floor wall joints were also repaired using the Xypex DRY PAC method.
Total area under repair is approx. 8000 m2.

The waterproofing of the basement section of the nuclear plant was paramount as it is exposed to the harsh underground conditions being in the proximity to the sea. The tidal variations too had its impact on the varied hydrostatic conditions.
The concrete treatment with Xypex Concentrate not only imparted impermeability but also enhanced durability to the concrete for its high chemical resistance. The proven performance of Xypex resulted in complete waterproofing of the roof sections of the Baraka Nuclear Facility. The Al Barakah Nuclear Plant is the only project of its kind where Xypex has been used in nuclear power facility.
Two coats of Xypex Concentrate were applied to protect and enhance durability of water retaining structures and roof slabs protection from condensation.
Around 7,500 kgs. of Xypex Concentrate was consumed.

The purpose of Xypex inclusion in the project is for long term concrete protection and durability in harsh environment and severe operational constraints. Epoxy paint was originally specified and Xypex was chosen as a much superior technology compared to any other surface application products available in the market, for long term durability and sustainability.
Two coats application on all internal wall and floor area of the entire Seadaf Structure - Backwash Tank, Dirty Water Tank, Outfall Structure. All defective concrete and tie holes were protected with Xypex Patch N Plug & Xypex Concentrate Drypac Solution.
AL TAWEELAH REFINERY

Xypex Scope of Work:
Al Taweelah Alumina Refinery is the first in the United Arab Emirates and only the second in the Middle East. The plant converts bauxite into alumina, the feedstock for aluminium smelters. Once full ramp-up is achieved, Al Taweelah Alumina Refinery will produce some two million tonnes of alumina per year, meeting 40 per cent of our alumina requirements.
Due to Xypex’s success in Mirfa Power Plant project, Xypex was specified to protect concrete structure of Taweelah Refinery Cooling Tower. Client made sure from beginning Xypex coating will be specified and applied in the Seawater Tank Cooling Structure along with chambers.
Two coats of Xypex Concentrate were applied to protect and enhance durability of sea water intake tanks, basin structures walls and floors.
Total 6,500 sqm. of surface area was waterproofed and 9,750 Kgs. of Xypex Concentrate was consumed.

Xypex Scope of Work:
The scope of Xypex waterproofing at the Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone project included the waterproofing of below-grade marine infrastructure, utility structures, tunnels, slabs exposed to harsh marine conditions and pile heads. The Xypex Crystalline technology was chosen for its ability to provide an integral, permanent waterproofing solution that protects the concrete from hydrostatic pressure, chloride attack, and other aggressive chemicals thereby enhancing the long-term durability of the marine structures.
The Khalifa Port Project is a massive infrastructure project that includes the construction of deep-water, multi-purpose Port on an artificial island and an adjacent industrial zone (Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi or KIZAD).

Xypex waterproofing technology was used for concrete protection all around channel drains throughout the tunnels in Red and Green Line. Concrete was deteriorating rapidly when Xypex was proposed to give an additional protection. RTA, the client was very satisfied with Xypex waterproofing performance and recommended it for use in other mass transport project in UAE.

Traders Hotel, Abu Dhabi, is a prestigious property featuring 301 guest rooms and suites, and is the second Traders Hotel in the UAE. The swimming pool was cast in June 2010. After extensive discussions with the consultant, alternative waterproofing options were ruled out.
Xypex waterproofing secured the consultant’s approval by presenting a demonstration of the application process, which included the use of Xypex Concentrate and a detailed treatment combining Xypex Concentrate with Patch N Plug. The substrate was carefully chipped and thoroughly fogged with water prior to application to ensure optimal adhesion and performance.
The project achieved successful results, demonstrating the unique efficiency and reliability of Xypex products.
SE-SW HOTEL AND WELCOME PAVILLION-FERRARI CONCEPT

Crack repair & lower deck crack for water reservoir and fountain areas
SCOPE OF WORK:
Severe cracks were observed on the lower deck of the Welcome Hotel Pavilion water feature area. Xypex Patch N Plug, in combination with Xypex Concentrate, was used to repair the cracks, followed by a full coat of Xypex Concentrate on the deck to provide effective waterproofing. The top surface of the deck formed the water body/fountain, and Xypex successfully delivered durable performance, earning the satisfaction of both engineers and clients.
SHARJAH AIRPORT CENTRO HOTEL

The original specification for the elevator pit tanking system called for a membrane-based solution. Xypex Admix C1000 NF was proposed and approved as a more efficient alternative.
Xypex Admix C1000 NF was incorporated into the pit walls, while Xypex Concentrate was applied for joint and tie-hole treatment. The elevator pit was subsequently flood-tested for three days, achieving full success.
AL SADDIYAT ISLAND

SCOPE OF WORK:
Al Saadiyat Island is a major development in Abu Dhabi, located approximately 700 meters off the coast. In June 2009, a demonstration was conducted on a 60 m² section of a pump station roof deck to address more than 15 cracks, each averaging 3 meters in length and over 0.4 mm in width. Previous repairs using competing materials had failed.
For the demo, a combination of Xypex Concentrate Slurry and Drypac was used for crack treatment, followed by a single coat of Xypex Concentrate slurry. The contractor opted not to use Patch N Plug, aiming to explore the effectiveness of Xypex Concentrate alone for larger areas. All existing cracks were routed out, and old repair materials were removed to prepare the substrate for Xypex treatment, successfully preventing serious water leakage.
Following a five-day flood test, Xypex Concentrate passed with outstanding results. Based on this success, approval was granted to apply the system to the entire roof, treating over 100 cracks, each averaging 4 meters in length and more than 0.4 mm thick.
The full application was completed and the roof was flooded with approximately 20,000 gallons of water for final testing, achieving full waterproofing success.

Comprehensive waterproofing treatment for the basement
SCOPE OF WORK:
Xypex waterproofing was employed to protect the basement structure, which was subjected to severe hydrostatic uplift pressure. This pressure caused water to be forced into existing cracks and distributed throughout the concrete structure. Xypex Scope of Work:
Phoenix Power entered into a power purchase agreement with Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) for the US$1.5 Billion Sur IPP Project. The project’s Sea Water Intake Reservoir is 18 mtrs. deep from GFL and 50 mtrs. away from seashore, the structure is inundated in seawater and under severe hydrostatic pressure and exposed to severe chloride attack and high salinity. Concrete structure with three layers of external protection had developed micro cracks in surface all around walls and floor.
Two coats of Xypex Concentrate were applied to protect the concrete internally and eliminate the cracks.
